Event Planning Manager, Grand Hyatt Dubai Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management
My interest and passion for hospitality started a while back when I was at Junior College. At that time, I used to work part time in Malta’s leading 5-star hotels having different responsibilities in the F&B department. I loved going to work, meeting new people, interacting with guests, and learning about hotel operations. When it was time to decide on which course to go for in University, I was not quite sure what to choose as nothing seemed quite right, until I came across the ITS website and decided to go for the Hospitality Management course. The curriculum was very attractive having a vast subject list as well as hands-on practical sessions. The experience at ITS exceeded my expectations. The lecturers were great mentors and very approachable, people with such an interesting background and expertise. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to take part in the Erasmus programme where I studied for three months at the University of Lincoln. The Hospitality Management course also included a 6-month internship, where students have the opportunity to intern at renowned hotels all around the globe. This was a steppingstone for me. After a few successful interviews I decided to make my way to one of the world’s leading hospitality cities, Dubai, UAE. I have been in Dubai for seven years and the exposure and knowledge that I have gained are priceless. The working life in Dubai is tough and extremely competitive, however with the Hospitality Management course at ITS I had the right tools and knowhow to kickstart my career. I am now working at Grand Hyatt Dubai, a leader in MICE in the region, in the Events department, helping event planners achieve their goals in our inspiring spaces. For all of those with a passion in hospitality I say go for it! Dedicate your time at the school to learn as much you can and do not miss any opportunities which come your way. And most importantly enjoy it, your future is bright!
Assistant Restaurant Manager of Grain and Under Grain Bachelor in International Hospitality Management
Everything started about eight years ago while I was studying in Hungary. The school I attended offered me work experience in a foreign country for one month, and that lovely country was Malta. I started working as a waiter in one of the leading five-star hotels in Malta, and that was when I fell in love with the island. That was when I felt the urge to finish my studies in Budapest and move to Malta for good. I enrolled at ITS as a diploma student. ITS provided me the perfect opportunity to expand myself. The most compelling parts were the internships. I loved going abroad and experiencing different cultures and meeting inspiring people. ITS granted me the right skills to become successful in hospitality. Today I am the Assistant Restaurant Manager of Grain and Under Grain, one of the first restaurants in Malta to achieve a Michelin Star and voted to be the best restaurant in Malta 2020.
Executive Head Chef at Ta’ Frenċ Restaurant Bachelor in Culinary Arts
For 7 years ITS was a huge pivotal part in my life. The Institute not only gave me a great practical and culinary experience throughout, but it significantly enriched me personally. It gave me courage to battle any difficulties both personally and academically. Throughout the years, I met a lot of wonderful people coming from all over the world and seen things that I would have never thought about. I experienced so many great privileges like being able to study at the internationally renowned Institut Paul Bocuse in Lyon France. ITS was the first key to the opportunities I have had in the industry and the first steppingstone towards the beginning of my career. I still have a long way to go, however I will always look back and be proud to see how far I have managed to spread my wings.
